Trump dismantles diversity programs and orders all employees fired

Employees who work in the diversity programs, closed by the Republican, will be on paid leave, said White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt on the social network X.

He thus confirmed a message from the federal office of personnel management that requests to inform “all employees of the DEIA (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility) offices that they are on paid administrative leave with immediate effect.”

The administration is “taking action to close/terminate all DEIA initiatives, offices and programs,” the message, posted on X on Tuesday night, continues.

In addition, Trump, who is scheduled for an interview this Wednesday night on Fox, the conservatives’ favorite network, requested the dismissal of more than 1,000 officials from the former Democratic administration.

And he attacked a Washington bishop, Mariann Budde, for a sermon about “fear” sown by the US president among migrants and members of the LGTBQ community.

“This pseudobishop (…) was a left-wing radical, who hates Trump,” he wrote early Wednesday on his Truth Social platform.

“It had an unpleasant tone, and it was neither convincing nor intelligent,” adds the president, who described the service as “very boring and uninspiring.”

“She is not very good at her job. She and her church owe the public an apology,” he estimated.

During the religious service at the Washington National Cathedral, the bishop asked Trump, sitting in the front row next to his wife Melania, to have “mercy.”

“The vast majority of migrants are not criminals,” he said. He frowned.

Shortly after taking office, Trump announced decrees against illegal immigration and denied the existence of transgender people.

– “Not aligned” –

Trump wants to avenge the “betrayal” he claims constituted the 2020 election of Democrat Joe Biden.

To this end, he ordered his team to “actively identify and remove more than 1,000 people appointed by the previous administration.”

People “who are not aligned with our vision,” he stated in Truth Social.

He assured that four had already been “fired.” Among them the former Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Mark Milley, who was an advisor, and Admiral Linda Fagan, appointed by Joe Biden to head the United States Coast Guard.

The new administration has also withdrawn police protection from John Bolton, former White House National Security Advisor during the Republican’s first term, who has become a fierce critic.

And he defended his decision to pardon 1,500 people convicted of attacking the Capitol on January 6, 2021 to try to prevent Biden from coming to power, or to commute the sentences of some of them. (Aurélia END and Robin LEGRAND)
