The third week of this second term of Donald Trump at the head of the White House has been marked by a torrent of important decisions that affect both the United States and the rest of the world.
Since the announcement of taking over the Gaza Strip to the elimination of temporary protection status for Venezuelans, Trump, his advisor Elon Musk and the rest of his team have continued forward with a controversial agenda.
We summarize here the 10 most important decisions of this week.
1. proposed that the US “take control” of Gaza
In a press conference held on Tuesday in the White House next to the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamín Netanyahu, Trump said that the United States would take control “and” would take over “from Gaza, rearing in passing to its Palestinian population.
Trump proposed to convert the territory, devastated after 15 months of war between Israel and Hamas, in what he called the “Riviera de Middle East.”
“The Gaza Strip would be delivered to the United States by Israel at the end of the fighting,” Trump repeated on social networks on Thursday, reiterating that the idea would imply resetting the Palestinians who currently live there.
Trump suggested that the displacement would be permanent, but administration officials later suggested that any relocation would only be temporary.
Any forced deportation of civilians would be a violation of international law.

2. imposed tariffs on China and suspended those of Mexico and Candá
Trump imposed a 10% tariff on Chinese imports on Tuesday, but he postponed for 30 days his threat of applying 25% tariffs to products from Canada and Mexico, after the leaders of those countries committed to reinforce security border.
The Canadian prime minister, Justin Trudeau, agreed to reinforce the border between the United States and Canada to stop migration and flow of the deadly drug drug.

3. Eliminated TPS protection for thousands of Venezuelans
The temporary protection status (TPS) that protected hundreds of thousands of deportation Venezuelans in the United States, officially expired on Friday, April 7.
The order, which exclusively affects the 348,202 Venezuelans who received that status in 2023, was published Wednesday by the Department of National Security (DHS, in English) in the Federal Registry.
According to the document, the Secretary of National Security, Kristi Noem, determined that it is “contrary to the national interest” that the citizens of that country temporarily remain in the United States.
This decision, he adds, “does not apply” to the people who received that status in 2021, for whom the TPS remains in force until September 10.

4. He sanctioned the International Criminal Court
On Thursday, Trump signed an order to impose sanctions apart from the personnel of the International Criminal Court (ICC). The sanctions establish financial and visa restrictions on the people and their families who collaborate in the CPI investigations against US citizens or their allies.
The Court, based in The Hague, pursues genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes. Recently, he issued arrest orders against a commander of Hamas and Israeli President Netyahu for alleged war crimes in Gaza, which Israel denies.
Trump’s announcement came while Netanyahu visited Washington DC.
More than 120 countries, including the United Kingdom, are members of the ICC, although the United States and Israel are not.
5. He sent the first deporteed plane to Guantanamo
The United States sent on Tuesday the first group of migrants to Guantanamo, after Trump announced plans to expand the arrest of migrants at the base of the US Navy in Cuba.
The National Security Department (DHS) said that the detainees were part of the Aragua Train, a band that originated in the Venezuelan prisons. Ten detainees were transferred there, the CBS chain reported, which cited several US officials.
The measure occurred after Trump ordered the existing migrant detention center to be extended to house some 30,000 people.
The Naval Base has been used to house a small number of migrants – few tens at the same time, in recent years – for decades.
In addition, almost 800 people – the majority detained for terrorism suspicions – have been imprisoned in the base arrest center since its opening in 2002. About 15 people are still held there today, according to US media.
Deportation flights also transported migrants back to India this week.
6. He withdrew from United Nations institutions and took new steps to reduce foreign aid
Trump also took measures to end the participation of the United States in several UN institutions.
On Tuesday, Trump signed an executive order to withdraw the US from the main UN agency for Palestinian refugees, or Unrwa, from which Israel has been very critical.
The same order said that the US would stop participating in the UN Human Rights Council (CDHNU), and that the country would carry out a review of its participation in the United Nations Organization for Education, Science and culture (UNESCO) within 90 days.
Regarding his desire to dismantle the main American agency for international development aid, USAID, and merge it with the State Department, which is responsible for the country’s foreign policy, Trump gave this week a new step.
It was announced that thousands of agency employees would be left over at midnight on Friday, something that was temporarily paralyzed by a judge in the US.
Trump plans to put administrative license to almost all 10,000 employees of the agency, except 611 workers.
The cuts in the agency have placed the world aid system up, with hundreds of programs already frozen in countries around the world.
7. Rare Resources asked Ukraine
On Monday, Trump said he wanted Ukraine to guarantee the supply of more rare earth metals in exchange for US $ 300,000 million to support his fight against Russia.
“We want what we put as a guarantee … We are looking to make a deal with Ukraine in which we will guarantee what we are giving them with their rare earth (minerals) and other things,” Trump said.
Ukraine has large uranium, lithium and titanium deposits, which can be used for defense and for the manufacture of electronic products, the CBS reported.

8. It prohibited transgender women from competing in women’s sports and asked to eradicate the “anti -Christian bias”
Trump signed an executive order on Wednesday that prevents transgender women from competing in female sports categories.
The Order outline guidelines, regulations and legal interpretations mainly around high school, university and base sports.
However, Trump said the order would include the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, adding that it would deny the visas to transgender Olympic athletes trying to visit the United States to compete.
Also, and continuing with the measures that concern part of their bases, Trump signed an executive order on Thursday with the objective of “protecting the religious freedoms of Americans and ending the anti -Christian instrumentalization of the government.”
He appointed the newly confirmed Attorney General Pam Bond to direct a working group to eradicate what he called “anti -Christian bias” in the federal government.
Trump signed the order after pronouncing a speech at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington DC.
9. Musk department access increased to federal institutions
President Donald Trump said Friday that he had ordered the Department of Government Efficiency (Doge) led by Elon Musk, a cost cutting initiative to reduce the federal government, to “review” the spending in the department of defense, among other agencies.
“Pentagon, education, almost everything,” Trump said during a press conference with Japanese prime minister, who was visiting, Shigeru Ihiba.

10. He revoked Biden’s security authorizations
Trump revoked Joe Biden’s security authorization and his access to daily intelligence information sessions, something Biden made Trump four years ago.
