Trump reiterates his intention to impose 25% tariffs on Mexico and Canada; will evaluate whether it includes oil

President Donald Trump reiterated that the United States will impose a 25% tariff to the imported goods from Canada and Mexico while signing executive orders from the Oval office on Thursday. Trump confirmed that tariffs will enter into force on Saturday, February 1, citing commercial deficits and fentanyl flow as main reasons for the measure, emphasizing the need to address these problems through tariff policy.

“We will announce the tariffs on Canada and Mexico for several reasons. Number one, people entered our country, horrible, drugs, fentanil and everything else that will arrive in the country, ”Trump said.

Trump first announced his intention to impose a 25% tariff on Mexico and Canada during a ceremony in the Oval office on the day of his possession.

Trump also did not rule out tariffs to the oil from Canada and Mexico. “We can or not, we are going to make that decision probably tonight, about oil,” Trump said from the Oval office.

Trump also said that he is considering tariffs about China because China sends fentanyl to the United States and causes many deaths.

“China will also end up paying a tariff for that, and we are in the process of doing so. We will make that determination of what is going to be, but China has to stop sending fentanil to our country and kill our people, ”Trump threatened.
