Trump sends a delegation to Ukraine while seeking to negotiate the end of the war

This February 10, the Ukrainian President, Volodimir Zelenski, confirmed during a press conference in kyiv that Trump will send a delegation to Ukraine this week, at a time where the end of the war seeks to negotiate. Recently, Zelenski had reported that the Ukrainian government was “refining the details” for the first visit of an American delegation to Ukraine since Trump’s return to the White House.

“This week, before the Munich Security Conference, there will be some people (high profile) of President Trump’s team here in Ukraine. Then the conference will be held and I will have several meetings there, even with the American vice president (JD Vance), ”said Zelensky.
Likewise, the Ukrainian President stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation between the teams of both countries. In addition to this, Zelenski said that “(…) there may be different opinions, but (there must be) a common vision of the main things: how to stop (Vladimir) Putin and how to provide security guarantees to Ukraine,”
From the presidential office they also previously indicated that Ukraine is organizing the reception of Trump’s special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, during the month of February. According to sources from the Ukrainian presidential office, cited by the medium RBC-UkraineKellogg plans to visit Ukraine on February 20 after the Munich Security Conference.
US interests in Ukraine
On February 7, the US president announced his intention to meet with Zelenski in Washington the following week. In addition, he recently mentioned that the United States seeks access to rare land minerals of Ukraine in exchange for help. Given this, Zelenski said that kyiv is willing to negotiate mining agreements with his partners.


Trump would also have talked with Russian President Vladimir Putin about the possibility of ending the conflict. In statements to the New York Post, the US president claimed to have a specific plan to conclude the war and added: “I hope it is fast. Every day people die. This war is so terrible in Ukraine. I want to put an end to this damn thing. ”
However, the Kremlin denied the conversation between the Russian and American president, and the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergei Ryabkov, warned during a press conference that relations with Washington “are on the verge of a break.” In addition, he reiterated the Russian position that the war in Ukraine will last until kyiv abandons his ambitions to join NATO and retire from the four regions occupied by the Russian forces.
