Donald Trump’s administration does not rule out the migrant center of the Guantanamo Military Base to retain irregular migrants in the United States that the authorities seek to deport their countries of origin, said the Secretary of National Security, Kristi Noem .

Noem made those statements in an interview with the Fox News chain, in which it was directly asked if the naval base, located in Cuba, was an option to send immigrants detained by the agents of the Immigration and Customs Control Service (ICE , for its acronym in English).

The official explained that the government is evaluating several options to expel those in the United States irregularly, especially nationals from countries that do not accept deportations, such as Venezuela and Cuba.

“We are evaluating it and debating it at this time. It is a decision of the president, but it is a resource and we will continue to explore how we can use all our resources to keep the United States for sure, ”said Noem.

Guantanamo Bay in Cuba has a migrant center to welcome them and process them before returning them to their nation or a third country.

That installation, which is separated from the place where suspects of terrorism remain, has already been used before. In 2010, for example, the United States Army prepared the site to anticipate the Haitians fled from the country affected by the earthquake.
