It shows itself as a wine attached to the land, the varieties, the climate and the hand of man as it passes through a vintage that again seems to clearly mark its expression. It was presented, with the 2021 harvest, accompanied by the quality of an excellent vintage and clear Atlantic air. Its confirmation, in 2022, leaves behind months of heat and drought that have had as consequences healthy grapes, early harvest and somewhat Mediterranean character.
Valeyo 2022, the result of Bodegas Mauro’s incursion into the lands of Bierzo, now plays the same cards as in the previous game. It comes from a plot, combines Mencía with a little Godello, ferments in concrete tanks and ages for twelve months in French barrels, new and used, of considerable capacity (500 liters).
In this way it offers a somewhat broader and more powerful presence, bright memories of fruit and the soft imprint of wood. It has also preserved hints of grape skin occasionally sprinkled with wisps of alcohol and tones of flowers, herbs, aromatic plants and sweet spices (cinnamon and others). Demonstration of complexity wrapped in a certain elegance, a friendly presence, a touch of mystery and that exquisite and surprising bath of pronounced freshness.
