The world of Mexican wrestling is in mourning after announcing the death of Miguel Ángel López Días at 66 years of age, who was better known as Mystery King Sr.. The emblematic Mexican fighter left his legacy and career in the national struggle marked.
The news was confirmed this December 20 by Miguel, son of Mystery King Sr.. Likewise, the Mexican wrestling company, Triple A, expressed its condolences for the death of the historic wrestler.
“The Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide family unites in solidarity for the very sensitive death of Miguel Ángel López Díaz Díaz, Rey Misterio Sr. We raise our prayers for his eternal rest,” the company announced.
Until now No details have been released about the death of Rey Misterio Sr.. In the publication that his son shared it only mentions that he died this morning.
“Friends and family, I regret to inform you that my father, Miguel Ángel López Días, Rey Misterio, passed away this morning. You will be kept informed, thank you,” he reported. Likewise, he shared a photo on his Instagram stories with the caption “Fly high daddy, I love you.”
Miguel Ángel López Días He was born on January 8, 1958 in Tijuana, initially he trained to be a boxer, however, he developed great muscles so his coaches recommended that he enter wrestling. His brother led him to get involved as a wrestler and that is how he managed to officially debut as a professional on January 6, 1976, in an event called “Día de reyes”.
In addition to achieving a great career as a professional wrestler in Triple A, he played an important role as a coach in the same sport. In 1987 he decided to open a gym together with Negro Casas and Super Astro with the intention of preparing future prospects. During his first classes he had apprentices such as Konnan, Psicosis, Halloween, Damián 666 and his nephew Rey Misterio.
Among his variety of pupils we also find fighters such as Cassandro, Eiji Ezaki, Extassis, Extreme Tiger, Phobia, Mysterious, Little Damian 666, Ruby Gardenia, Lord of War, Black Venom, and X-Torm.
It is worth mentioning that the family of Mystery King Sr. He also became involved in the world of wrestling, in addition to being the uncle of wrestlers like Rey Misterio and Metalika, he was the great uncle of Dominik Mysterio and brother-in-law of Super Astro.
