Who will receive $2,000 from Social Security in February? Exact payment dates

Month after month, the Social Security Administration (SSA) sends money to millions of peopleincluding retired workers, survivors, and those receiving Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI).

The agency is preparing to send payments for the month of Februarywhich for all retirees is almost $2,000, on average, while the maximum SSI amount is $967 for an eligible individual, $1,450 for an eligible couple, and $484 for an essential person.

This is how Social Security payments are sent month by month

SSI payments are sent on the first day of each monthexcept when day 1 falls on a weekend or holiday. In these cases, payments are advanced to the first previous business day. On the other hand, On the third day of each month, benefits are sent for people who began receiving their payments before May 1997.

The rest of the payments are sent on Wednesdays as follows:

  • Second Wednesday of the month: beneficiaries with a date of birth between the 1st and 10th
  • Third Wednesday: beneficiaries born between the 11th and 20th
  • Fourth Wednesday: beneficiaries born between the 21st and the 31st

Social Security payment schedule in February: exact payment dates

According to the Social Security Administration payment schedule, This is how Social Security benefits will be sent in February:

  • Monday, February 3: Beneficiaries who began receiving their payments before May 1997
  • Wednesday, February 12: Beneficiaries with a date of birth between the 1st and the 10th
  • Wednesday, February 19: Beneficiaries with a date of birth between the 11th and the 20th
  • Wednesday, February 26: Beneficiaries with a date of birth between the 21st and 31st
  • Friday, February 28: Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Beneficiaries (Payment corresponding to March)

Regarding the SSI payment corresponding to February, the benefit is sent earlier. On Friday, January 31, the SSA will send the advance payment for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients. February 1st is a Saturday, so payment is made in advance and sent the day before.

These are the new amounts of Social Security payments this 2025

In October of last year, the SSA announced that thanks to the cost of living adjustment (COLA), Social Security benefit amounts would rise 2.5 percent this year. Therefore, this is how the average payments look this year:

On the other hand, although they are not related to the increase in COLA, The maximum amounts that a retiree can receive in 2025 are the following:

  • 62 years old will be $2,831
  • 65 years old, from $3,374
  • 66 years old, from $3,795
  • 67 years old, from $4,043
  • 70 years or older, from $5,108
