The Diocesan Secretariat of Spirituality of the Archbishopric offered yesterday, Wednesday, a new conference of the cycle programmed around the theme “Synodality and different spiritual experiences, of yesterday and today, in our Church that walks in Valencia”, which will serve as preparation for the Jubilee of 2025.
The conference was titled “The Encounter with Christ: Emmaus Retreats” and was given by the priest Salvador Pastor Abril.
In 2024 the cycle will continue on January 31, with the conference “The new ecclesial realities and the Hakuna movement”, by José Pedro Manglano; on February 16, “The announcement of Jesus Christ: courses on Christianity”, taught by Mons. José Ángel Saiz Meneses, Archbishop of Seville; on April 24, with the presentation on “Carmelite spirituality today”, by Carmelite Emilio José Martín; and on May 29, the last one, given by the Franciscan José Luis Coll on “Franciscan spirituality today.”
Other training activities
The Diocesan Secretariat of Spirituality also organizes a series of spiritual formation activities for priests, consecrated life and lay people, with the main objective of “deepening Christian spirituality on the way to a synodal church, promoting the encounter with God with spiritual exercises and prayer retreats, and the encounter with the Word of God through Lectio divina.”
The next activities will be on December 29, the concert-worship “The Eucharistic Manger” in the church of Santa Catalina in Valencia, led by the Abraham Community; and in the month of January, spiritual exercises for priests of the Convictorio; prayer retreat for couples and young people; and Lectio Divina course, directed by Carmen Lázaro, at the Cistercian monastery Sta. María Gratia Dei, in Benaguasil.
