Darren Aronofsky is in preliminary conversations to direct Breakthrougha new film produced by A24 which will have Dwayne Johnson On a key role. Although the agreement has not yet been closed, various sources ensure that the project is already taking shape, with a script written by Zeke Goodman.
The story, set in southern California to late 90sfollow a young alienated who falls under the influence of a Charismatic motivational speaker.
What begins as a search for meaning, becomes a toxic relationship when the protagonist discovers that the charm of his mentor hides manipulative methods and a dark side. Johnson will play the Guru, in a secondary but central role for the plot.
A24 and Aronofsky
This project would mark Aronofsky’s return to A24 After The Whale’s success (2022), film that earned the Oscar to Brendan Fraser. The production will be in charge of Stacey Sher with his company Shiny Penny Productions, in addition to Seven Bucks Productions, owned by Johnson and Dany Garcia.
A24 will also finance the feature film, while Jacob Epstein and Justin Wolf will be executive producers from Lighthouse Management & Media. @Mundiario
