In the gospel of this Thursday we hear that a leper approached Jesus to ask for help and falling on his knees he said to him, if you want, you can purify me. Jesus, moved, extended his hand and touched him, saying, “I want him, he is purified immediately. The leprosy disappeared and he was purified.” Jesus sent him away, severely warning him not to say anything to anyone, but go present yourself to the priest and surrender for your purification with the offering that Moses ordered to serve as a testimony to them, however. As soon as he left, he began to proclaim it to the whole world, divulging what had happened in such a way that Jesus could no longer publicly enter any city but had to stay outside in deserted places and people came to him from all over. The lepers had to remain isolated to avoid the spread. contagion to such an extent that they had to ring their condition with a bell so that no one approached them. Of course, they could not approach others either and that is why they lived outside the cities and without participating in any social or religious work activity, this leper became about The Lord does not reject Jesus, he does not move away nor is he afraid of him, but the leper’s attitude is one of humility. He kneels before him and his words recognize that it is Jesus who decides, if you want, you can purify me. The leper tells him, he completely abandons himself to the hands of Jesus not with an imperative request but with a conditional one that opens up to hope and trust. Jesus’ response is also beyond what was expected.
