Trump pardons 23 anti-abortionists prosecuted by the Biden administration

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, signed a decree this Thursday that pardons 23 anti-abortionists prosecuted by the previous government of Joe Biden.
“They should not have been prosecuted. Many of them are elderly,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office of the White House. “It is a great honor to sign this,” he added.
The announcement comes on the eve of a large anti-abortion rally in Washington, known as the “March for Life.”
According to the American press, the 78-year-old millionaire will participate in it by videoconference. Vice President JD Vance is expected to attend.
During the campaign, Trump avoided making a clear statement on the right to abortion, a politically sensitive issue.
The Christian right calls for federal restrictions and the Republican prefers to leave the decision in the hands of the states.
But on several occasions he has boasted of having contributed to the end of the constitutional right to abortion decided in June 2022 thanks to his appointments of conservative justices to the Supreme Court.
Following the shift in jurisprudence, many conservative states have banned or severely restricted the use of abortion.
Since his inauguration on Monday, Donald Trump has issued a series of pardons to please his supporters, starting with the spectacular pardon granted to 1,500 people convicted of storming the Capitol in January 2021.
He also pardoned two police officers convicted of an illegal chase that left a black man dead in 2020.
