Trump warns Iran to be “annihilated” if he tries to kill him – DW – 05/02/2025
The president of the United States, Donald Trump, said Tuesday (04.02.2025) that he has left “instructions” so that, if Iran murders, the country is “annihilated.”
“If they did, they would be annihilated,” Trump said in statements to the press in the Oval Office of the White House, where he signed a memorandum to increase the pressure on Tehran.
“I have left instructions: if they do, they will be annihilated, nothing will be left,” he added.
The Department of Justice announced in November that he had frustrated an Iranian plot to kill Trump before the presidential elections.
According to the accusation, the Iranian authorities ordered Farhad Shakeri, 51, to monitor and, ultimately, kill Trump. According to the US, Shakeri is a fugitive in Iran.
Hard hand policy with Iran
The presidential memorandum signed by Trump restores a hard hand policy with Iran, with the aim of preventing the country with a nuclear weapon and limiting its oil exports.
Speaking to the press, Trump said Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon and argued that the United States has the right to block the sale of Iranian oil to other countries.
Trump made these statements before meeting at the White House with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamín Netanyahu, with whom he will address, among other issues, the growing tension with Iran, which last year attacked Israel twice with missiles and drones.
