A step forward in the digitalization of the French Camino de Santiago without giving up its legacy, tradition and spirituality
Path to Europe: synergy between tradition, technology and sustainability
Camino de Europa was conceived as a project whose purpose seeks the transformation of the cultural experience of pilgrims, as well as reactivating the economy of the towns that make up the French Way. This crosses the communities of Aragón, Navarra, La Rioja, Castilla y León and Galicia. To do this, it relies on four levers: encourage local development, promote cultural immersion, promote inclusive innovation and promote sustainable and regenerative tourism. In this way, it opens a window to the cultural and natural heritage of rural regions, facilitating an approach that promotes the preservation of the environment and the well-being of the region.
The project, financed by European Next Generation funds through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, It aims not only to improve the pilgrim experience, but also to strengthen ties with the community in different ways. On the one hand, enables small producers to offer their products and experiences directly to walkers in a market on-line international in scope which allows purchases to be sent directly to addresses in the European Community. On the other hand, and thanks to the possibilities of technology blockchainhave been created ‘Pilgrim Tokens’ that encourage positive activities how to walk and get to know the culture and reward hospitality and generosity along the Camino.
